The funeral for the anti-apartheid campaigner Archbishop Desmond Tutu has taken place in Cape Town. Desmond Tutu the prominent Anglican bishop who fought apartheid in South Africa visited Wisconsin several times to speak out against. An architectural consortium comprising several leading architectural firms conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand.
In 1984 Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent opposition to apartheid. A decade later he witnessed the ends of that regime and he chaired a Truth and Reconciliation Commission set up to unearthatrocities committed during those dark days. The passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu is another chapter of bereavement in our nations farewell.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner died last Sunday aged 90.
